THE PROCESS
Each and every maple and ash bat produced by Carolina Clubs requires two fully operational production facilities.
Carolina Clubs is one of only four wood bat manufacturers that can state with true conviction,
"We control from standing timber through finished bat!"
Our sawmill located in upstate New York begins the entire production process with the selection of timber.
This includes walking wood lots and selecting trees which meet our specific criteria. Large quantities of logs are also purchased through our network of local farmers, land owners, independent loggers as well as concentration yards.
| |
| Harvesting logs used in the production of Carolina Clubs high quality maple and ash baeball bats is a specialized and selective process. Many of the areas we harvest are remote wood lots. Building logging roads for large equipment in many cases is impossible.
The utilization of draft horses allows for such precise and selective work.
Logs are transported to our sawmill from the entire State of New York as well as Pennsylvania and the surrounding regions. Deliveries typically avereage 65 logs per truck, but at times may require a pup trailer. **fact** Most of the lumber being sold as Canadian Maple is actually harvested from the state of New York.
| Logs that are delivered by independent contractors will be scaled and graded in our yard. During this process negotiating a fair price is common practice.
Recently scaled and graded logs waiting to be processed.
| When purchasing large volume During the warmer months, logs are sorted and stacked under cover in our log bays. Summer heat will cause the logs to begin to dry prematurely which can be detrimental to the integrity of the finish bat.
